As I recall, the story relating to the branches, was commonly referred to as “the sticks.”
There was an occasion, I believe a family reunion, where Donnie Hambrick, Emma Ammons, Johnny Hambrick and Johnny Jinks went into the woods behind Bentley Hill Church seeking the grave markers of various family members. While there, they came across this fallen tree branch that was in the shape of a large bough with three off shoot branches and it was decided that this branch should represent the BHHJ family tree, and since it was found at Bentley Hill, it was even more fitting.
I don’t know when this event took place, but if you look closely at the branches, you will see that they are very smooth and nearly petrified. The red ribbon with which they are tied symbolizes family unity and strength.
